20 shanties burnt in Gazipur fire

At least 20 shanties were burnt in a fire that broke out in a slum in Tongi railway station area of Gazipur city early Tuesday.

Fire service sources said the fire broke out around 1:45am when some residents of the slum lit fire using straw to protect them from cold.

Three units from Tongi fire station rushed in and doused the fire after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.
