1 killed as bus overturns at Karwan Bazar

A person was killed and 15 more were injured when a bus overturned and another one hopped on the road divider during their desperate completion at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The identity of the victim was not available immediately, said traffic inspector, Khadimun Islam, of Karwan Bazar intersection.The side of the road that leads to Gabtoli area was blocked due to the accident this evening, witnesses said.Two buses of route 8 from Jatrabari to Gabtali were chasing each other in a desperate competition to reach destination faster.
At one stage one of them hopped on the road divider and another one overturned leaving one of the passengers dead on the spot.
Six of the injured were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Traffic on the busy street came to halt immediate after the accident.
