Outdoor Pahela Baishakh celebrations must end by 5:00pm
Home minister Asaduzzman Khan on Tuesday stuck to the restrictions on Bangla New Year celebrations, saying that all outdoor events on Pahela Baishakh must finish by 5:00pm on April 14.
The minister, however, said the events at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi can continue to 7:00pm.
The minister came with the comments after a meeting on law and order on Pahela Baishakh at the secretariat.
Asaduzzaman said there is no possibility of security breach but the government has taken the decision to ensure foolproof security.
The minister said no one will be allowed to wear masks but revelers would be allowed to carry masks as placards.
He said plainclothesmen would patrol to prevent ‘eve-teasing’ and mobile courts will also be deployed.
Asaduzaman said that the main venue of the celebration will be at Ramna Batamul and the entire city and the festival venues would be under strict vigilance of closed circuit television cameras.
