PM returns home from UK

Wrapping up her six-day visit to the United Kingdom, prime minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Thursday morning. A VVIP flight (BG-016) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and her entourage landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at 10:05am, United News of Bangladesh reports. Earlier, the VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and her entourage took off from Heathrow International Airport on Wednesday evening. Bangladesh high commissioner to the UK Md Abdul Hannan saw the prime minister off at the airport. After making one-hour stopover at the Osmani International Airport, it will fly for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

During her stay in the British capital, the prime minister was accorded a civic reception by the UK chapter Awami League at the Park Lane Hotel on June 14. She also joined a reception hosted by chairman of All Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh Keith Vaz at the UK chapter office of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in the British Parliament on June 15. Sheikh Hasina visited the British Parliament on June 16 and listened to the maiden speech of her niece and Labour Party MP Tulip Rezwana Siddique at the House of Commons. She also met House of Lords speaker Baroness D’ Souza.
