Noman released after detention in Gazipur

The police released Bangladesh Nationalist Party vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman few hours after his detention from Tongi in Gazipur on Sunday.
Nine other BNP activists who were detained with Noman were, however, kept detained at Tongi police
station. 
The detained activists are Sohel of Rangamati, Shahidul Islam of Chittagong, Masudur Rahman Shakil of Barisal, Kabir Ahmed of Narsingdi and Abdul Quayum, Quazi Mosharrof, Alauddin, Abdullah and Farid of Tongi in Gazipur, said Gazipur district BNP president AKM Fazlul Huq.
He said that Noman and the nine were detained at about 5:00pm immediately after they emerged from a press conference 
at BNP-nominated mayoral candidate Hasan Uddin Sarkar for in the Gazipur city polls.
He said that the BNP candidate called the press conference at his Tongi house to give his reaction after the High Court stayed the mayoral polls. 
Tongi police station inspector (operation) Alamghir Hossain told New Age that they released Noman at about 10:00pm but nine others were in their custody.
They were detained for creating obstacles on roads, vandalising cars and creating panic, said Gazipur additional superintendent of police, Rasel Sheikh.
