8 more students killed in road accidents since Kurmitola accident

One more school student was killed in a road accident on Saturday in Feni as deaths of students in road accidents continued despite countrywide student outburst for safe road following deaths of two of their fellows in a bus crash at Kurmitola in Dhaka city on July 29.
With the latest death, at least eight students were killed after the Kurmitola accident, which also injured 12 students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College as a bus competing with another one, ploughed through a crowd of the students waiting for transports. 
The Kurmitola accident sparked student protests across the country that lasted for nine days and ended after police and armed ruling party activists attacked the protesters.
New Age correspondent in Feni reports that Nusrat Jahan Mim, 7, class-I student of Silonia Government Primary School, was killed as a truck knock her down at Silonia Bazar in Dagonbhuyan when the girl was crossing the road.
She was taken to Feni Sadar Hospital, from where she was referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctor declared her dead, said Dagonbhuyan police officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad.
Earlier on August 10, class-II student Arafat, 10, son of Safi Uddin, of Jopjar para, was killed in a road accident at College More on Atowary-Panchagarh highway in Panchagarh.
On August 4, Farhana Akther Mim, 21, a HSC student of Shafiddin Sarker Academy and College, was killed as a covered van ran over her in Gazipur.
On August 4, Mohammad Abdullah, 17, student of Bahirab Haji Asmat College, was killed as a human hauler hit him at Raipura in Narsingdi on Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
On August 3, class-X student Sadia Akhter, 15, of Barchouna High School under Sakhipur upazila, was killed in a road accident.
On August 3, Arifa Akther, 7, a class-II student of Damala Govt Pry School, Sreenagar of Munshiganj, was killed as a CNG hit her while she was crossing the road in front of her school.
On August 2, Mohammad Reshad, 12, a class-VII student of Bandura Holy Cross School and College, was killed as a truck rammed their motorcycle at Char Kushai in Dohar. His cousin, who was riding the motorcycle, was injured in the accident.
On July 31, Aklima Akhter, 16, a student of Gomti Isakia High School, was killed and another student was injured as a bus ran over them when they were crossing Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Gomta area of Chandina upazila in Comilla.
