Rain disrupts normal life, Eid shopping, in city
Heavy rain triggered by monsoon lashed many parts of the capital on Wednesday, leaving the normal life, especially Eid shopping for some dwellers, in disarray, United News of Bangladesh reports. Many areas, where water stagnation is a perennial problem, such as, Shanitanagar, Mouchak, Malibagh, Rajarbagh and Kazipara through circle 10, went under knee-deep water due to the downpour. The rain that began in the morning flooded many of the city streets while Eid shoppers underwent unbearable sufferings for unavailability of vehicles. People in many areas had to wade through the water-logged streets. Many of them complained that rickshaws and CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers charged them excessive fares, taking advantage of the inclement weather. The sky wore a cloudy look since the morning. Met office recorded 20 milimetres rainfall in last six hours till 1:00pm.
