PM warns against 2014-like situation

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said that the ‘evil force’, which had resorted to arson attacks on people in 2014 and 2015, was hatching conspiracies again to repeat such a situation in the country ahead of the December 30 elections.
She said that the ‘evil force guided by a London-based criminal’ was proceeding with two plans. One was to purchase a section of police officials and the other was to demoralise the police force by killing a number of senior police officers, she added.
Sheikh Hasina said these at a function held at Gana Bhaban in the capital when a group of former police officers called her on to express solidarity with the present government.
The prime minister said that she was confident the arsonists would not be successful as the police was discharging its duties with more efficiency and determination.
‘We would not be able to contain terrorism and extremism without the efficient services of the police force and intelligence agencies,’ she added.
