RMG workers on rampage after bus kills two fellows

Garment factory workers went on rampage at Malibagh in Dhaka after two of their fellow workers died in a road accident at Malibagh Chowdhurypara on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the workers and pedestrians got agitated and vandalised a number of vehicles and torched a bus after a Gazipur-bound bus of Suprabhat Paribahan ran over MH Garments workers Meem and Parvin when they were crossing the road near Abul Hotel in the afternoon.

Meem was killed on the spot and Parveen was seriously injured, police Sergeant Shuvo Kumar Dey told journalists.

Parveen was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead, said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

Police seized the bus and arrested the driver.
