JOF team meets Noakhali gang-rape victim
A Jatiya Oikya Front delegation led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met the Subarnachar gang-rape victim at Noakhali General Hospital on Saturday.
BNP vice-chairman Mohammad Shahjahan, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president ASM Abdur Rab, Krishak Sramik Janata League president Abdul Kader Siddique, BNP joint secretary general Mahbub Uddin Khokan, its publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anni, BNP leaders Harunur Rashid, Shirin Sultana, Kamruzzman Ratan, Rehana Akhtar Ranu and Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya are among the team.
The 35-year old woman, also a mother of four, in Subarnachar of Noakhali was gang raped on the night of December 30 by ruling Awami League activists for casting her vote for BNP in Bangladesh general election.
During a stopover at Cumilla, Mirza Fakhrul said the ruling quarter has unleashed a reign of terror across the country after the general election.
‘The people’s right to franchise has once against snatched away through state-sponsored terror. The ruling quarters have unleashed a reign of terror and fear across the country through violence before the election, on the election and after the election. We have seen one of our sisters have been raped in Noakhali,’ he said.
‘We condemn such acts and we call on the people to resist such acts of terror,’ said Fakhrul.
A Jatiya Oikya Front delegation of led by Fakhrul started for Noakhal to see the Subarnachar gang-rape victim in the morning.
The team started their journey from the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan at around 7:00am.
