PM hosts tea party for foreign diplomats
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday hosted a tea party at Gana Bhaban in honour of foreign diplomats and heads of different missions and representatives of international organisations.
She hosted the tea party for them at the south lawn of Gana Bhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, in Dhaka in the afternoon.
The prime minister arrived at the venue at about 4:00pm and exchanged pleasantries with the ambassadors, high commissioners and charge d’affaires of 48 countries as well as the heads of the missions and representatives of international organisations in Bangladesh.
She talked to the diplomats, heads of missions and representatives of the international bodies and enquired after their well being.
The diplomats earlier greeted the prime minister by presenting her with bouquets.
Ambassadors, high commissioners and charge d’affaires of different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Russia, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Italy, Vatican City, joined the tea party.
The heads of different foreign missions and international bodies like the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, World Health Organisation, World Food Programme, International Labour Organisation, International Organisation for Migration, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund also attended the event.
Senior Awami League leaders Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed and SA Malek, AL general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, foreign minister AK Abdul Momen, prime minister’s advisers HT Imam, Moshiur Rahman, Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddiq and Salman F
Rahman, state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu and former minister Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain were present, among others.
Prime minister’s daughter Saima Wazed Hossain and Sheikh Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, PM’s principal secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, military secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin, PMO secretary Sajjadul Hassan and press secretary Ihsanul Karim were present.
The lash green south lawn of Gana Bhaban was tastefully decorated with kure ghar, bamboo mats, mora and earthen
pots and while patriotic songs were played on the occasion.
The guests were entertained with traditional food and cakes from Bangladesh including chatpati, fuchka, muri, moa, naru, kadma, murali and bhapa, chitai, patisapta and puli pitha, zilapi, kebab and nan ruti.
