Body handover begins, DNA test to identify deformed bodies
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital authorities have so far handed over four bodies of the Chawk Bazar fire incident victims to their family members.
DMCH authorities at first handed over the body of Kamal Hossain, salesman of a cosmetics shop, to his brother on Thursday afternoon at around 3:00pm.
Coroners at the hospital said many of the bodies of the Churihatta fire victims got deformed and it is hard to identify them.
Sohel Mahmud, head of forensic department at Dhaka Medical College, said those bodies will be identified through DNA test.
He said post-mortem examination of the bodies has begun. The bodies which could be identified will be handed over to their family members after post-mortem examination.
So far 30 bodies could be identified, he said adding that they have received 67 bags and the number of bodies could be confirmed after post-mortem examinations.
