Writ seeks stay on DUCSU polls
A Dhaka University student on Sunday field a writ petition with the High Court seeking stay on holding the election to Dhaka University Central Students Union as her name is not included on the voters list.
The petitioner Fahmida Majid, a masters student of international relations, is also an aspirant for the prestigious students union from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
The bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir is likely to hear the petition on Monday.
Her lawyer Ruhul Quddus Kazal said Fahmida did not find her name in the voters list published by the Dhaka University authorities on February 20.
As she is an aspirant for the polls, she filed the writ seeking stay on the elections finding no other solution as Monday is the last day for filing nomination, said the lawyer.
The Dhaka University vice-chancellor, its registrar and the chief returning officer of the DUCSU polls are made respondents.
