Bangladesh commandos foil Biman hijack bid, kill suspect in Chattogram

Army commandos on Sunday claimed to have foiled a hijack attempt of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittogram and killed the suspected hijacker. 
‘Our para commandos reached the airport around 6:00pm and successfully completed the operation,’ said Major General SM Matiur Rahman, the General Officer Commanding of Chattogram cantonment.
He said that the plane, which had 134 passenger and 14 crew members, landed at the airport at 5:41pm. 
‘Air force first came to know that the plane was hijacked. Pilot informed it from cockpit,’ he said at the press briefing at the Shah Amanat International Airport. 
‘The hijacker was lone man, his age was about 25-26 years ... Our commandos initially asked him to surrender, but normal action was taken as he tried to become attacking by rejecting the call. 
‘The hijacker was initially injured and later we got to know he has died already,’ he said at a press conference Shah Amanat International Airport. 
Earlier, Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan, the chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, told reporters at a press briefing in Dhaka that he hijacker was carrying an weapon and a bomb.
‘So I far I know he was carrying a arm and a bomb was tied on his body,’ Hassan, told reporters at a press briefing in Dhaka.
He did not disclose the identity of the suspected hijacker but said that he is a Bangladeshi. 
The flight operations returned normal Shah Amanat International Airport, he said. 
Mokabbir Hossain, an additional secretary of civil aviation ministry, said the BG 147 was a regular Dhaka-Chattogram-Dubai Flight.
