BNP meets home minister for Khaleda’s treatment

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders on Tuesday met home minister Asaduzzaman Khan at his office in Dhaka and requested him to make better arrangement for the treatment of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. 
A six-member delegation of BNP led by its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met the home minister seeking measures for ensuring proper treatment of Khaleda Zia, also a former prime minister.
After the meeting that lasted for about 35 minutes from 2:30pm, Fakhrul told journalists that the minister assured them of effective measures. 
‘We think that the home minister will keep his words and will make the highest arrangement for the best treatment of Khaleda Zia,’ Fakhrul said. 
Asaduzzaman told reporters that Khaleda Zia would be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital for medical checkup as per the decision of the medical board.
‘The jail authority has been implementing decisions of the medical board formed according to a High Court directive,’ he said. 
Other members of the delegation are BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf 
Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. 
Earlier on September 9, 2018, a delegation of BNP led by Fakhrul met the home minister over treatment of ailing Khaleda who was jailed in a corruption case on February 8, 2018. 
Khaleda Zia was admitted to BSMMU Hospital in October last year and took back to the prison after a month.
