Obaidul may undergo bypass surgery
Ailing Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader was likely to undergo a bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore where he was now being treated, doctors concerned said on Tuesday.
‘Obaidul Quader is likely to undergo a bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore “within days”,’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University director Doctor Abu Naser Rizvi, who accompanying the ailing minister in Singapore, said in a video message.
He said that doctors at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital found infections in his kidneys and he would be fit for the surgery once the infections were contained.
‘The doctors are thinking of conducting a bypass surgery on his heart after the infections are control. His condition is stable now and was gradually improving,’ Rizvi said.
A Mount Elizabeth Hospital air ambulance flew Obaidul to Singapore from BSMMU Hospital on Monday evening for better medical management at the advice of doctors, including famous Indian cardiologist Doctor Devi Shetty.
His wife Isratunnesa Quader was also accompanying the minister at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
The minister was admitted to BSMMU Hospital on Sunday with severe cardiac complications.
