Khaleda declines to get admitted to BSMMU

Although all preparations were taken, Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia was not taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Sunday for treatment as she expressed her unwillingness to go there.

Briefing reporters at around 1:00pm on the hospital premises, BSMMU director Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Harun said ‘Khaleda Zia won’t be brought here as she refused to get admitted to the hospital.’

‘Earlier the jail authorities told us that Khaleda Zia would be brought here and we prepared cabins for admitting her. But later they informed us that she won’t be brought here as she declined to get admitted to BSMMU,’ the director added.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the authorities took preparations to take Khaleda Zia to the hospital for ensuring her better treatment as per the court order.

On March 4, a BNP delegation led by its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met home minister Asaduzzaman Khan to discuss Khaleda Zia’s health condition and her treatment.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been behind bar since a special court convicted her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8, 2018.
