Fire at Gulshan-1 DNCC market under control
The fire that broke out at the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) kitchen market in Gulshan-1 in the early hours came under control, said a fire service official.
The fire came under control around 8:25 am, said Ershad Hossain, a duty officer of the fire service control room.
The fire broke out on the third floor of the market at 5:48 am. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
A total of 20 firefighting units worked to douse the blaze, Ataur Rahman, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence had earlier informed New Age. United News of Bangladesh reports that Army and Navy members had also joined the fire service teams in dousing the fire.
The fire started at 5:48 am and the reason is still unknown.
No casualty was reported immediately.
A similar fire on January 3, 2017, gutted 300 shops at the same market though no causality was reported.
The fire came in less than 48 hours after a similar incident at 22-storied Faruqe Rupayan Tower in Banani killed 25 people and left over 70 injured on Thursday.
