Khaleda’s health condition improves: BSMMU

Former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health condition improved Tuesday compared to on Monday when she was shifted to a cabin at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, said doctors.
The government declared the hospital can as sub jail before shifting her from the abandoned Old Dhaka Central Jail where she is interned. 
It was for the 2nd time that Khaleda Zia was shifted to the BSMMU since February 8, 2018, from when she had been in the jail for what BNP says, ‘politically motivated corruption cases.’
‘She is better today… she is happy with the treatment we are providing,’ BSMMU director for hospital brigadier general KM Mahbubul Hoque, said at a press conference he called at the hospital at 3 PM.
On Monday, Mahbub told reporters that Khaleda Zia was unable to walk without support. She complained that she felt pain in the joints of her limbs. Due to anorexia, she is suffering from can neither take her meals nor sleep and her blood glucose level is high.
On October 6, 2018, Khaleda Zia was shifted from the Dhaka Central Jail to the BSMMU for the 1st time but only after the Supreme Court directed the authorities to get her admitted to the hospital for treatment.
At that time said BSMMU that Khaleda Zia was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis coupled with diabetes.
Deformity developed in her left hand and her shoulder became frozen due to the rheumatoid arthritis, they had said.
Asked on Tuesday, Mahbubul said she can move her hands while speaking.
He said the head of the medical board formed for her treatment, professor Zilan Miah Sarker of medicine department, visited her at her cabin.
‘She spoke smilingly and she was happy,’ Mahbub said.
He said the health condition of any person was solely personal and that her condition would not be disclosed any further.
‘She is happy with our treatment,’ Mahbub said.
BNP demanded her treatment at a private specialized hospital preferably , the United Hospital.
