Female migrants face most problems in KSA due to language barrier

Bangladeshi female domestic workers not proficient in spoken Arabic are facing problems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry officials said.
According to Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, about 95 per cent of female migrants in the KSA work as domestic workers.
Over 2.92 lakh female workers of Bangladesh migrated to the KSA, BMET data show.
On return from the KSA, Beauty Begum of Narsingdi said that her proficiency in spoken Arabic made her work as housemaid in the KSA easier.
While sharing her experience at a roundtable on ‘Regulating the Role of Middlemen for Ethical and Fair Recruitment of Migrant workers’, she said ‘I could communicate with my employer in Arabic.’
Beauty said that she came back home in March 2018 and was thinking to migrate to the KSA again.
The roundtable over, Beauty told New Age that she studied at a primary school up to class four.
She said that before leaving for the KSA she learned spoken Arabic.
She also said that she had no problems with Arab food.
She said that her employer and his wife treated her well.
State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad told New Age, ‘Our female workers suffer stress at Arab homes as they cannot communicate with employers in
