Three students killed in city road crashes

Three students died in two road accidents at Demra and Sabujbagh areas in the capital on Friday.
In Demra, a college student on a bicycle was killed when a bus hit him from behind and ran over him. Locals blocked the Demra-Rampura road for around five hours protesting against the incident. 
In Sabujbagh, two school students died when the motorcycle carrying them hit the wall of Khilgaon flyover. 
The deceased were identified as Ibne Tasneem Irom, 18, son of Din Mohammad, resident of Amulia Purbapara area under Demra thana and a 2nd year student of Gulam Mostafa College of the same area, Abdul Roman 17, son of Abdul Mazid, of Wahab Colony in Sabujbagh and a class IX student and Tajuddin Hossain Tuhin, 20, son of Md Tofazzal Hossain, of Wahab Colony in Sabujbagh and a class X student. 
Roman was a student of Dhaka Eastern School and College at Banashree and Tajuddin was a student of Kadamtala Purba Basabo School and College in the capital.
These accidents took place at a time when student protests for road safety was revived following the death of a Bangladesh University of Professionals student on March 19 by a speeding Suprabhat Paribahan bus at Pragati Sarani in the capital. 
Demra police station sub inspector Mozammel Haque told New Age that around 10:00am Ibne Tasneem Irom was on a bicycle on Mosto Majhir road.
A Ramjan Paribahan bus on Demra-Meradia route hit the bicycle from behind in front of Demra Staff Quarter and ran over the student, leaving him spot dead.
After Jumma prayer, locals blocked the Demra-Rampura road in front of Demra Staff Quarter till 7:00pm protesting at the incident, said the sub inspector. 
A huge number of vehicles became stranded at both ends of the road during the protest. 
Rampura police station officer-in-charge Md Abdul Quddus said that the driver and his assistant sped away and fled the scene. 
On information, Rampura police stopped the bus on Rampura bridge and caught the driver with his assistant and seized the vehicle. 
Md Abdul Quddus said that they were to send the arrested people and the bus to the Demra police station around 7:00pm. 
In another incident, Abdul Roman and Tajuddin Hossain Tuhin were speeding along the Khilgaon flyover on a motorbike around 2:30pm and hit the flyover wall, which left the two critically injured. 
Sabujbagh police rushed the duo to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty physicians declared them dead around 4:45pm, DMCH police outpost inspector Bachhu Miah confirmed.
