PBI finds 13 involved in Nusrat killing

The Police Bureau of Investigation has found involvement of some 13 persons, including two women, in Nusrat’s case.

Banaj Kumar Majumdar, PBI chief, said this at a press conference at the bureau’s Dhanmondi office on Saturday adding that the number of involved persons may rise further.

A total of seven among eight accused in the case had already been arrested, he added.

According to PBI investigation, a group of the assailants met Siraj-ud-Doula, the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrassah, at jail on April 4 and planned the killing.

On April 5, a female with two extra burkas and kerosene was waiting for the assailants at the cyclone centre.

The PBI investigation also confirmed that there was a female, and two male assailants who set ablaze madrassah student Nursrat Jahan Rafi.  Identity and gender of the other was yet to confirm.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, 18, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrassah, was set ablaze on the roof of the madrassah on April 5.

She said four people, all covered in burkas, with their faces veiled and hands gloved, got hold of her while setting ablaze.

She died on April 10, after losing her grim battle for life at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
