62pc WASA service seekers face corruption

Around 62 per cent service seekers of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority are facing different forms of corruption and irregularities, a Transparency International Bangladesh study said.

Moreover, some 91 per cent of Dhaka city dwellers are drinking boiled water burning gas worth Tk 332 crore per year, the study also reveals.

TIB made the study report public at a press conference at its Dhanmondi office in the capital on Wednesday.

At the press conference, TIB executive director Iftekharuzzaman said that almost no country around the globe were boiling the state provided water now a days.
