NUSRAT MURDER Classmate Mohiuddin sent to jail

A Feni court on Friday sent Mohiuddin Shakil, who was arrested in the case of killing the 18-year old Sonagazi madrassah student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, to jail after police produced him before the court.
Mohiuddin, son of Ruhul Amin of Nusrat’s village Uttar Char Chandia under Sonagazi in Feni and also classmate of the victim, was arrested from Purba Ukilpara of Feni district town Thursday afternoon, Police Bureau of Investigation inspector Md Shah Alam told New Age.
Shah Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, said that the suspect was produced before the Feni senior judicial magistrate Dhruba Jyoti Paul Friday afternoon and the court sent him to jail.
Both Nusrat and Mohiuddin were appearing in the Alim examination at the Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrassah examination centre, he said.
The PBI inspector said that they, as per confessional statement of a number of accused, came to know that Mohiuddin stood on guard at the gate of the Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrassah when the assailants set fire to Nusrat following her refusal to withdraw her allegation against her abuser, Siraj-ud-Doula, the madrassah principal.
He said that Mohiuddin went in hiding after the incident and PBI launched drives at places around the country to nab him.
With Mohiuddin, a total of 21 suspects were arrested so far in the case of Nusrat killing. Eight of them, including all five who allegedly took part in the killing by setting the victim afire, had made confessional statements in court.
Nusrat was sexually harassed by Siraj in his madrassah office room on May 27 and, on the following day, Siraj was arrested after her mother lodged a case against him in this connection.
Nusrat was set on fire on April 6, allegedly on orders from Siraj in jail as she refused to withdraw her complaint against Siraj.
On April 10, Nusrat died, while on life support, at the intensive care unit of the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
