Pass rate 82.2 per cent, up by 4.43 per cent from last year

The combined pass rate in this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations stood at 82.2 per cent, show the results published on Monday.

This year’s combined pass rate increased by 4.43 per cent up from the previous year’s pass rate of 77.77 per cent.

The number of Grade Point Average five achievers of SSC and equivalent exams dropped this year to 1,05,594 from that of 1,10,629 in last year.

Education minister Dipu Moni announced the results in the morning at International Mother Language Institute in the capital after the results were handed over to her as prime minister Sheikh Hasina was in London.

A total of 21,27,815 students sat for the examinations this year under 10 education boards out of whom 17,49,165 had passed.

The results also show that the number of institutions with 100 per cent pass rate increased to 2,583 from 1,574 of the last year.  No students passed from 107 educational institutions this year, down by two as it was 109 in 2018.

This year the pass rate for eight general boards is higher, 82.8 per cent, compared with last year’s pass rate of 79.4 per cent.

Among the 16,94,652 examinees under eight boards , 14,03,157 passed the examinations.

The pass rate for madrassah board this year is 83.03 per cent which was 70.89 per cent in 2018.  Out of total 3,06,780 examinees under the board, 2,54,710 passed the examinations.

The pass rate for technical board this year is 72.24 per cent which was 71.96 per cent last year.  Under the board 1,26,383 examinees participated in the examinations out of whom 91,298 passed.

Among eight general boards the highest pass rate is 91.64 per cent in Rajshahi board followed by 90.88 per cent in Jashore, 87.16 per cent in Cumilla, 84.1 per cent in Dinajpur, 79.62 per cent in Dhaka, 78.11 per cent in Chattogram, 77.41 per cent in Barishal and lowest 70.83 per cent in Sylhet board.
