Proposed budget to destroy country’s economy : Gono Forum
Gono Forum leaders on Saturday said that the proposed national budget, fiscal measures in particular, for financial year 2019-20, would create havoc in the country’s economic sector.
They made the statement at a post-budget press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka in the morning.
The party’s president Kamal Hossain said that their party did not accept the proposed national budget, as it was not a people-oriented one.
The party general secretary Reza Kibria read out the party’s statement regarding the budget at the programme.
According to the statement, the budget did not reflect the expectation of the mass people and it would only benefit the high-income group.
The statement said that the proposed budget would not address the real problems of the country; rather it would benefit the corrupted section of the society.
The statement also said that implementing the proposed budget would create a chaos in the country’s economic sector.
Speakers at the programme also said that the illegal government proposed the budget to benefit their accomplices and help them to obtain more illegal wealth and send their money to abroad.
They also said that only a credible government could propose a budget that would benefit people of all sections of the society and be able to save the country’s economic sector.
The present government should immediately hold a re-election and hand over the power to the elected government, they added.
