Minni lands in jail after making statement
Aysha Siddika Minni, widow of Rifat Sharif who was hacked to death in front of her in Barguna district town on June 26, made a statement before Barguna senior judicial magistrate on Friday.
Senior judicial magistrate Sirajul Islam Gazi recorded Minni’s statement and sent her to jail.
Investigation officer of the case Barguna police station inspector (investigation) Md Humayun Kabir said that he produced Minni before the court Friday afternoon, the second day of her interrogation in police custody, as she desired to make a statement before the court.
He claimed that Minni confessed to her involvement in the murder.
Minni was arrested on Tuesday evening after a daylong quizzing and the Barguna court on the following day allowed the police five days to interrogate her in police custody.
Earlier in the morning, the senior judicial magistrate court of Barguna remanded Rishan Farazi in police custody for five days for interrogation in the number.
Rishan is an accused of the murder of Rifat Sharif, who was hacked to death in broad daylight on June 26 in Barguna district town.
Judge Sirajul Islam Gazi of the court passed the order in response to the police prayer seeking a seven-day remand in custody for interrogating the accused, arrested on Thursday morning.
Rishan was a close associate of Noyon Bond, the prime accused in the case, who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police on July 2.
Investigation officer of the case and Barguna police station inspector (investigation) Md Humayun Kabir said that he produced Rishan before the court and appealed for his remand to unearth the mystery of the case, arrest the absconding suspects and, above all, for a proper investigation into the case.
The police have so far arrested 16 people including the victim’s widow Aysha Siddika Minni who is now facing interrogation by the police in their custody.
A video clip of the murder captured in a surveillance camera went viral on social media, which showed criminals hacking Rifat Sharif brutally in front of Barguna Government College while his wife Minni was trying to save him.
