GRP Station Rape OC, SI withdrawn
Khulna Government Railway Police station officer-in-charge and a sub-inspector were withdrawn on Wednesday following allegation of rape of a detained woman at the police station by five cops.
The action was taken against officer-in-charge Osman Goni Pathan and sub-inspector Nazmul Haque, said assistant police superintendent (Railway Kushtia circle) Firoz Ahmed.
On August 5, a three-member probe body was formed to investigate the reported rape of a woman by five railway policemen before producing her before a court accusing her of drug peddling.
The probe body, led by Firoz, was asked to submit its report in seven working days.
Victim’s cousin said that the woman came to Khulna from Jashore on August 2 by train. When she got down at Khulna Railway Station at about 7:30pm, some policemen arrested her on charge of cell-phone lifting and took her to Khulna Government Railway Police station where five policemen, led by Osman Goni, raped her.
On August 3, police produced her before a court showing her arrested with five bottles of Phensedyl.
As the victim raised the allegation in the courtroom, the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court asked authorities concerned to conduct medical tests on her.
