Home ministers agree mutual assistance between Bangladesh, India police

The seventh round of home minister-level meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday agreed to facilitate mutual assistance between police forces of Bangladesh and India to contain law and order in the both countries, said a home ministry release.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan led the 16-members delegate in the meeting. 

The release said that Indian home minister Amit Shah assured Asaduzzaman of help in the speedy repatriation of Rohingyas who were given humanitarian shelters in Bangladesh.

The meeting had broader discussions on security-related matters of mutual interest.

Issues related to stronger border management, counterterrorism, capacity building and increased cooperation between security agencies, as well as countering illegal activities like fake currency, drugs and human trafficking were discussed at the meeting, said the release.

It said that the meeting expressed satisfaction over the border management noting that the two countries are working more closely than ever before on all fronts including security and border management.
