Two more dead in Noakhali, Mymensingh

Two more people died of dengue in Noakhali and Mymensingh on Sunday.

In Noakhali, a sexagenarian man died of the mosquito-borne disease at Noakhali General Hospital in the early hours.

The deceased was Amir Hossain, 60, a former army man from Shaymapur village in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur

Hospital sources said Amir, who was working at a private organisation in Dhaka after his retirement from army, was returning home from the capital on Saturday with fever.

As his condition deteriorated on the way, he was taken to the general hospital around 1am on Sunday.

He died around 6:15am while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said resident medical officer of the hospital Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim.

With this, two people have so far died of dengue in the district.

On August 2, railway employee Mosharaf Hossain Raju, 30, died at a hospital here. Meanwhile, a total of 42 dengue patients are currently taking treatment at the general hospital, said the RMO.

In Mymensingh, a college boy named Farhad, 20, lost his battle to dengue at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital around 11:30am.

Deputy director of the hospital Laxmi Narayan Majumder said Farhad was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night with dengue. ‘He from multiple organ failure following dengue,’ he said, adding that 201 dengue patients were currently admitted to the hospital.
