Rumeen applies for plot in Purbachal
Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmaker Rumeen Farhana, who, on several occasions, questioned the legitimacy of the present parliament, alleging that it was constituted through massive rigging, has applied for a 10-katha plot in the government’s Purbachal project.
As a lawmaker, Rumeen in her official pad, applied to the housing minister SM Rezaul Karim on August 3 stating that she would ‘remain ever grateful’ if a 10-katha plot was allocated to her at Rajdhani Unnyayan Kartripakkhya’s Purbachal project in the capital.
The letter also stated that Rumeen had no plot, flat, or house in Dhaka. She also requested the minister to grant her application as she had no source of income other than legal practice.
Rumeen could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
The housing minister said that he would take a decision on Rumeen’s application as per the plot allocation rule.
The 13A section of the rule empowers the minister to allocate plot on special consideration.
Rumeen, an assistant international affairs secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was elected in the only reserved seat allotted to the Bnagladesh Nationalist Party that won only six seats in the 11th national elections held on December 30.
Following a series of dramatic developments, the party allowed its MPs-elect to take oaths in the parliament. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, elected from Bogura 6, however, did not take oath following the party’s stance.
