8 BNP leaders, including Fakhrul, get bail

Eight BNP leaders, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, surrendered before a Dhaka court in a case filed with Hatirjheel police station on Monday and the court granted them bail.

The BNP leaders filed bail petition to the court upon surrender.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari at first said that he would deliver decision after hearing the bail petitions. Later at 2:00pm the court granted them Bail.

Other BNP leaders are standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdury, Moyeen Khan and joint secretary general Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu.

In 2018, the case was filed against them for creating obstacle to police duty and conspiracy to sabotage.

Lawyers Joynul Abedin, Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Masud Talukder mentioned in the bail plea that the police filled the case on false ground as the accused Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdury was outside the country then.
