Procession, rally banned at IU
The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia banned on all types of processions and rally on the campus after a faction of the university unit Chhatra League threatened to launch movement against irregularities at the university.
The ban was announced on Saturday morning through a release signed by student adviser Paresh Chandra Barman and acting proctor Anisur Rahman.
Apprehending troubles, the university authorities imposed the ban as university unit Chhatra league president SM Robiul Islam Polash and for its former leaders and activists called a rally on the campus on Saturday.
Additional members of law-enforcement agencies were also deployed on the campus to avert unwanted situation.
‘All the students are asked to carry their identity card otherwise they won’t be allowed to enter the campus,’ Anisur Rahman added.

On Friday, a group of about 200 former leaders and activists of Chhatra League led by Jobayer Al-Mahmood and Faisal Siddique Arafat brought out a procession in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and later they tried to swoop on university unit Chhatra League general secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib with sharp weapons but Rakib managed to flee the scene.
The procession ended at the same place after parading main roads of the campus. They went to room 112 of the hall and vandalised it around 6:00pm.
A reported audio conversation between Rakib and an unidentified person went viral on social media where they talked about bribery, corruption and the processes how Rakib had been running a racket of graft on the campus, in court and offices, and inside the BCL.
