Casino beneficiaries not to go unpunished: Obaidul
Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said none of the people who got share of illegal casino money would go unpunished.
Citing that the drive against casinos and illegal bars began within the house of Awami League, the minister said the prime minister Sheikh Hasina directed not to let any beneficiaries of the illegal businesses to go unpunished.
‘They might belong to Awami League or any other party or to the police administration. It does not matter. All of them will be brought to book,’ he said while talking to journalists after laying the foundation stone of a zonal office building of the Roads and Highways Department at Topkhana in Sylhet.
Responding to a question, the minister said action was on to stop movement of three-wheelers, including Kariman-Nasiman, on highways and the commerce ministry already asked to stop importing such vehicles.
Besides, the administration was asked earlier to stop plying of unregistered CNG-run auto-rickshaws on highways, the minister added.
Asked about committees of different units of Awami League, Obaidul said the expired committees of different units of the ruling party would be formed within December 10.
Local MP Mahmud-Us Samad Chowdhury Kayes, Awami League central organising secretary Ahmad Hossain and Misbah Uddin Siraj, its Sylhet city unit president Badar Uddin Ahmad Kamran and district unit general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, among others, were present at the function.
