BADDA SHOOTING: Death toll rises to three
Another ruling party man succumbed to bullet injuries on Friday morning taking to three the death toll from the incident of shooting at Badda in the city on Thursday night.
Dhaka north unit Swechchhasebak League assistant cultural affairs secretary Mahbubur Rahman Gama, 40, died at United Hospital at about 9:00am.
Dhaka city Awami League ward-6 unit joint secretary Shamsu Molla, 50, and another person named Firoz Ahmed Manik, 40, were killed in the shooting on Thursday night.
Another injured, local Juba League leader Abdus Salam was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Local people said that Mahbubur, Shamsu, Salam, Firoz, Touqikul Alam Toufique, Golam Kibria Shamim, Harunur Rashid and Maruf Ahmed Manik held a meeting at Adarshanagar water pump house on Thursday night over the distribution of extorted money collected for National Mourning Day.
Touqikul and Harunur left the place after the meeting at about 8:30pm, while the others were gossiping standing in front of the pump house. After five minutes Maruf went to toilet.
At that moment, three assailants came there at opened fire at MAhbubur and others and went away.
The police were primarily suspecting that dispute over apparel wastage business and distribution of extorted money might have caused the murder, said Badda police station sub-inspector Emranul Hasan.

had leased Badda Adarshanagar cattle market, but local Chhatra League leaders Sagar, Babu, Joynal and Mofazzal Hossain Rahin leased the market ffrom the city corporation in 2014.

Mahbubur was trying to lease the cattle market this year, Aminur said, adding that some rivals over the matter might have killed him.
Mahbubur was also controlling business of apparel wastage of Star Garment in the area and had engaged in dispute with rivals over establishing supremacy in the area, his relatives said.
Mahbubur’s associate Tahsir Rahman Saikat said that Mahbubur was the prime target and assailants shot him and then opened random fire.
Firoz was the manager of a hospital and partner of Mahbubur and he went Adarshanagar to receive Tk 1 lakh from Mahbubur, said his brother Khorshed Alam.
Shamsu Molla was living in Malaysia over 20 years and returned home two years ago.
Swechchhasebak League president Pankaj Denath visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital and expressed condolence to the victim families.
He claimed that BNP and Jamaat men were behind the murders.
Over 200 people were killed and 26,470 were injured in Awami League infightings since the party assumed power in 2009.
Statistics available with rights groups showed that at least 219 leaders and activists of district to union units, educational institutes and different associate organisations and many apolitical people were killed in 2,544 infightings between January 2009 and June 2015.
