RU students block highway as fellow stabbed on campus
Rajshahi University students on Friday blocked the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in front of the university main entrance as a fellow was stabbed on the campus in the evening.
Campus sources said that economics department first year student Firoz along with his female friend was heading toward the Madar Bux hall of the university from the university stadium market in the evening.
A group of unidentified youths blocked their way, took them to nearby Shaheed Habibur Rahman playground and asked them to give everything they had.
As Firoz started shouting, the miscreants stabbed him on the head and his leg and left the scene, leaving him critically injured, the sources said.
Later, students rushed him to the university medical centre from where he was referred to Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital. The injured student was undergoing admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Protesting against the incident, students of the university blocked the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in front of the university main entrance at 9:50pm demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.
The students announced that they would not leave the highway until the perpetrators were arrested.
The agitating students continued their demonstration on the highway till filling this report 11:15pm.
University proctor Lutfor Rahman told New Age that he was talking to agitating students in this regard.
