JCD attacked at DU again

At least four leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were injured in an attack allegedly by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Muktijuddha Mancha on the Dhaka University campus on Sunday.

The injured were Mamun Khan, Shahjahan Shaon, Tarek Hasan Mamun and Naeem Hasan.

Witnesses said leaders and activists of Muktijuddha Mancha, a platform of descendants of freedom fighters, led by its president Aminul Islam Bulbul, also vice-president of Chhatra League and the mancha general secretary Al Mamun, also former deputy liberation war affairs secretary of Chhatra League swooped on Chhatra Dal activists when they were approaching towards Madhu’s Canteen.

Some leaders and activists of Chhatra League mostly followers of its university unit president Sanjit Chandra Das also joined Muktijoddha Mancha members and assaulted the Chhatra Dal activists.

All the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the university’s medical centre for treatment.

Earlier, Muktijoddha Mancha was holding a press conference at Madhu’s Canteen regarding a controversial Facebook posted by Chhatra Dal general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal.

Chhatra Dal at another press conference at Dhaka University Journalist Association’s office claimed Shaymal’s Facebook account was hacked few days ago and they also lodged a general diary in this regard with Tejgaon police station but Chhatra League was on smear campaign over it.

Acknowledging the attack Muktijuddha Mancha president Aminul Islam Bulbul said Chhatra Dal tried to create anarchy on the campus so they resisted them with the spirit of liberation war.

Chhatra League acting president Al Nahian Khan Joy said they would not take responsibility of this attack as it was carried by Muktijuddha Mancha.

Earlier on September 23, at least 12 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists and three Dhaka University reporters of different media outlets injured after Chhatra League activists attacked them on the university campus.
