Councillor Tarequzzaman on 14-day remand

Dhaka courts put Tarequzzaman Rajib — a Juba League leader and councillor of ward No 33, Mohammadpur, Dhaka North City Corporation — on a 14-day remand in two cases and another Juba League leader Armanul Haque Arman on a five-day remand.

Metropolitan magistrate Yasmin Ara allowed Bhatara police to quiz Rajib for seven days in an arms case and seven days in a narcotics case on Sunday around 11:00pm while Bhatara police sub-inspector Masud prayed for a 20-day remand after producing him before the court.

Earlier on October 19, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Tarequzzaman Rajib after raiding a house in Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka.

Rajib was expelled from the Juba League on charge of breaching party discipline.

On the same day, another court granted a five-day remand for Armanul Haque Arman, a close ally of Juba League Dhaka south city unit president Ismail Chowdhury Samrat, in a narcotic case filed with Ramna Police Station.
