JL leader Khaled remanded for 7 days
A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Wednesday remanded recently expelled Awami Juba League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan for a seven-day in a murder case lodged with the capital’s Khilgaon police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam passed the order as investigation agency Police Bureau of Investigation submitted application showing him arrested in the case.
According to the case documents, muggers stopped Israil Hossain and his son Saimon on May 4, 2014, at Toragach area in Khilgaon and snatched two bags containing Tk 38 lakh after shooting at them.
Both Israil and Simon were rushed to Khidmah Hospital nearby, where Saimon succumbed to his injuries. Israil were later shifted to National institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and he died in 2016 after suffering for two years from the injuries.
Israil’s brother Mojibur Rahman on September 5, 2014, filed the case and detective branch of police in 2016 submitted probe report in the case. But court without accepting it, ordered PBI to probe the case further. Rapid Action Battalion arrested Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan from his Gulshan residence on
September 18 evening for allegedly running an illegal casino in the city’s Fakirerpool area.
They seized illegal weapons, Yaba and huge cash from his residence and handed him over to Gulshan police station on September 19.
RAB filed three cases against Khaled, one for possessing illegal arms, one under narcotics control act and one under money laundering prevention act.
