Hasina, Erdogan should get Nobel Prize: Kamal
Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that prime minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan should be awarded Nobel Peace Prize.
Both Erdogan and Hasina made history giving shelter to people who fled their own countries, he said during a meeting with Turkish parliament speaker Mustafa Sentop.
He hoped that the world would agree with the view, according to a press release of the finance ministry.
Mustafa Kamal, now in Turkey’s capital Ankara to participate in the 5th meeting of the Bangladesh-Turkey Joint Economic Commission, said Turkey has given shelter to four million refugees.
Bangladesh, one of the densely populated countries, has given shelter to one million Rohingyas who fled from the bordering Rakhine state of Myanmar, he said.
Mustafa Kamal said Bangladesh is facing problems for the staying of the large number of Rohingyas in this densely populated tiny country.
He noted that repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland was the only option for resolving the great humanitarian crisis.
He sought cooperation of Turkey to end the crisis.
