Govt fails in every sector: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said the government failed in every sector as they had no commitment towards the people of Bangladesh.

While exchanging views with journalists at his Thakurgaon home, Fakhrul said it was also difficult for an unelected government to establish good governance in the country.

‘The crisis of salt and onion is the outcome of the government’s failure. The government could not address the crisis earlier as  they are not paying any heed to these issues. Their eyes are only on the mega-projects to make money,’ Fakhrul said.

There is no parliament in the country now as the present one is not elected by the people, he added.

The system of governance has broken down and Bangladesh has turned into a failed state, the administration could not perform its duties properly as the ‘small people are occupying big offices’.

Referring to recent protests at universities, Fakhrul said less-qualified and inferior persons have been made vice-chancellors.

Mentioning that it was difficult to fight against fascism, the BNP leader said protests have already begun and ‘the government will face mass-upsurge very soon, I believe.’

He claimed that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been jailed in ‘fabricated’ cases.

He BNP advised the government to have a discussion with Khaleda Zia to overcome the ongoing crises in the country.
