VP Nur barred from entering hall room

Dhaka University Central Students’ Union vice-president Nurul Huq Nur on Tuesday was reportedly barred from entering the Ganaroom in Bijoy Ekattor Hall by the Bangladesh Chhatra League activists.

Witnesses said that after taking meal at the hall, Nur along with his followers went to visit the Ganaroom, which is basically a crowded dormitory for first-year students, but BCL activists turned up and did not let Nur and his associates entering the room.

Bangladesh Students’ Rights Protection Council joint convener Faruk Hossain said BCL activists shoved them and hurled abusive words.

Nur said when they tried to visit the room BCL activists barred them and asked why they were trying to enter the dormitory without permission of BCL.

Nur alleged that the activists assaulted them without provocation.

Nur filed a complaint to the provost of Bijoy Ekattar Hall, and also to the hall union president Professor AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan.

Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan said that he received the complaint also show cause notices had already been issued to the accused asking them to reply within seven days.

He further said that actions would be taken if anyone found guilty after investigation.

DUCSU assistant general secretary and also BCL DU chapter secretary Saddam Hossain denied the allegation also said that they rather received complaint that Nur misbehaved with students.

Earlier on April 2, Chhatra League confined and assaulted Dhaka University Central Student Union vice-president Nurul Huq Nur and social service secretary Akhtar Hossain at Salimullah Muslim Hall of the university.
