Myanmar hands over 17 fishermen to Coast Guard
Some 17 Bangladeshi fishermen were sent back from Myanmar after 48 hours on Friday night.
They were detained by Myanmar Navy after entering its water territory when their boat went inoperative on December 4, 2019.
The Bangladeshi fishermen were handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard at around 9:30pm, said Lieutenant Commander Saidul Islam, staff officer of Coast Guard east zone.
On November 29, Bangladesh sent back 16 Myanmar fishermen after they were detained for intruding into Bangladesh water territory.
