Gold price rises by Tk 1,516 a bhori

Jewellers have increased the prices of gold by up to Tk 1,516 per bhori with effect from today because of price hike of the precious metal in the international markets for last few days.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association on Saturday announced the new rate of gold after the reduction of the price thrice in last few months.
The price of 22-karat gold has been increased to Tk 43,273 per bhori or 11.664 gram from Tk 41,757 per bhori.
The new rate for 21-karat gold has been set at Tk 41,173 per bhori from the previous rate of Tk 39,657 per bhori.
The low-grade 18-karat gold will be sold at Tk 34,525 per bhori, Tk 626 highr than the previous price of Tk 33,900 per bhori.
The price of traditional gold has been hiked to Tk 23,094 per bhori from Tk 21,870 per bhori.
The jewelers have also increased the price of silver by Tk 58 per bhori setting the rate at Tk 991 per bhori from the earlier rate of Tk 933 per bhori.
The price of gold was last hike on January 22 this year.
The association on August 6 reduced the gold price by up to Tk 1,225 per bhori. Earlier, the price of the precious metal was reduced on July 23 and March 11 in the current year.
In international market, the price of gold was $1,159 per ounce or 31.103 gram on Saturday, increasing from around $1,090 on August 6.
