DNCC, DSCC ELECTIONS Taposh, Atiqul, 6 others collect AL nomination forms
Eight mayoral aspirants on Wednesday collected nomination forms of ruling Awami League to contest in the two Dhaka city corporation elections to be held on January 30 in the next year.
Four aspirants seek the ruling party’s nominations for each of the two city corporations.
The ruling party lawmakers Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Haji M Selim, Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council’s former secretary general MA Rashid, and Sheikh Rasel Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad advisor M Nazmul Haque seek nominations to contest in the election of Dhaka South City Corporation.
Incumbent Dhaka North mayor M Atiqul Islam, Bangabandhu Foundation joint general secretary Shahidullah Osmani, the party’s Vasantek thana unit vice-president M Yead Ali Fakir and party activist M Jaman Bhuyan seek nominations to contest in the election of Dhaka South City Corporation.
The representatives of mayoral aspirants collected the forms from the party president’s political office in Dhanmondi.
The ruling party will continue its form distribution till December 27.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party will distribute its nomination forms on December 26.
The party instructed its nomination seekers to submit their forms on December 27 and to attend an interview session on December 28, said party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Retired army officer Kamrul Islam collected a nomination form from Jatiya Party to contest in Dhaka North, said a press release by the party.
As per the schedule, the last date for nomination paper submission is December 31, nomination paper scrutiny will be held on January 2 and the deadline for the withdrawal of candidature is January 9.a
