DU student rape case handed over to DB police
The case filed over the rape of a Dhaka University female student was handed over to the Detective Branch on Tuesday.
Students continued demonstrations on DU campus for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrator and stern action against him.
The victim was raped on Sunday evening, January 5, 2020, by an unknown person in a roadside bush between Kurmitola General Hospital and Kurmitola Golf Club on the Airport Road, triggering massive protests in Dhaka and elsewhere.
Protesters blocked the Shahbagh intersection for an hour on Monday and issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the authorities concerned to arrest the miscreant.
The victim was admitted to the one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital where her medical examination was carried out, hospital officials said.

Though out of danger, she was still traumatised, the hospital officials said.
DMCH forensic department head Shohel Mahmud said that they obtained evidence which suggested that she was raped.
