Obaidul hospitalised with breathing difficulty
Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Friday morning with respiratory complications.
He was taken to the hospital about 10:30am as he felt breathing complication, doctors and AL leaders said.
He is now undergoing treatment at the coronary care unit of the BSMMU.
Obaidul attended a meeting at AL president’s office in Dhanmondi in the morning. He fell sick during the meeting and was rushed to the BSMMU.
BSMMU vice-chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua said Obaidul’s condition was now stable.

Road transport and bridge ministry public relations officer Abu Naser said the minister was admitted to BSMMU at 10:30am with breathing problems.
‘His blood pressure had gone up but it became normal later,’ he said.
Quoting doctors at the BSMMU, Naser said, ‘As he is a cardiac patient,
they are examining him... His condition is normal now.’
AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak at a press briefing in front of BSMMU about noon said Obaidul’s condition was stable and he was out of danger now.
‘A board of expert physicians is looking after him,’ said Nanak urging AL leaders and activists not to gather at the hospital but to concentrate on the Dhaka city elections to be held on Saturday.
Earlier on March 3, 2019 Obaidul was admitted to the BSMMU after cardiac arrest.
On the next day, he was shifted to Singapore on an air ambulance.
He underwent a bypass surgery in a Singapore hospital on March 20.
On May 15 last year, the minister returned home after receiving medical treatment in Singapore for over two months.
