Under-19 World Cup final Spirited Bangladesh bowl out India for 177
Bangladesh Under-19 team bowled out their Indian counterparts to a gettable 177 off 47.2 overs in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa on Sunday.
Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a valiant 88 for India but a dominant bowling performance led by pacers Avishek Das (3-40), Tanzim Hasan (2-28) and Shoriful Islam (2-31), kept Bangladesh always on top after the elected to bowl first.
Shoriful and Tanzim only conceded eight runs off the first six overs, and Avishek reaped the reward of their hardship, removing opener Divyaansh Saxena for two in the seventh over,
Jaiswal tried to consolidate the innings with a dogged 94-run stand for the second wicket with Tilak Varma (38) before Tanzim removed the latter with the score on 103-2 in 29 overs.
India were still riding towards a competitive total, with Jaiswal at the helm, but Shoriful dismissed Jaiswal and Siddhesh Veer (0) in consecutive deliveries to reduce them to 156-5 in 40 overs.
The Bangladesh boys then squeezed the Indian lower order, conceding only 21 runs in 7.2 overs to restrict them to a total the Bangladeshi batters would fancy chasing down.
