Another Tolarbagh man dies with coronavirus symptoms
A septuagenarian of Tolarbagh in Dhaka died with coronavirus symptoms on Sunday evening, a day after another elderly resident of a neighbouring building died of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection.
The man was the secretary of the mosque committee at Tolarbagh, which is now virtually on lockdown. Both the septuagenarians were close and frequent mosque-goer, said local residents.
The man died on Sunday had symptoms of coronavirus infection, said Mirpur division additional deputy commissioner of police Mahmuda Afroz, adding that Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research collected samples from his body in the morning and the man tested positive for coronavirus.
He was suffering from dyspnoea as the day progress and later died, said the police official.
No official comment from IEDCR could be received about the death.
Local lawmaker Aslamul Haque asked Tolarbagh residents to restrict their movements and stay at home after the latest death on Sunday evening.
Aslamul told New Age that they held an emergency meeting with Tolarbagh residents on Sunday evening and also he announced using a public address system that all the residents in the area must restrict their movement in the wake of coronavirus situation.
The Tolarbagh neighbourhood was now on virtually lockdown. There are about 40 buildings and 670 families in the locality.
