Ganajagaran Mancha man found dead in Sylhet

Police recovered the body of a Shahjalal University of Science and Technology student, who was also an activist of Ganajagaran Mancha, from a student mess in Sylhet on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Shahriar Mazumder, a Master’s student of architecture engineering of the university, former convener of SUST Cultural Forum and an activist of Sylhet unit Ganajagaran Mancha. He was from Pahartali in Chittagong city, police said.
Shahriar’s classmates said they went to his mess at Surma Residential Area around 8:30pm on Thursday when the door of his room was found closed and they did not get any response despite repeated knock on the door.
Later, they saw through a ventilator that Shahriar’s body was hanging from a window of his room and they broke open the door.
Informed, Kotwali police reached recovered the body around 9:00pm.
Eyewitnesses said the body was hanging from a window by a waist-belt and the laptop of Shahriar was switched on when his body was recovered.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Sohel Ahmad told New Age that they handed over the body to the victim’s relatives after postmortem examination at the SOMCH on Friday afternoon.
He said they were trying to find out the reason for the death.
